Rhule says Temple needs help on defense

Temple still has two games left in the regular season.

However, after Saturday’s 39-36 loss to Central Florida, coach Matt Rhule addressed the offseason and said that upgrading the team’s talent – especially on defense – is a huge priority.

UCF'S O'Leary: Owls headed in right direction

Central Florida coach George O’Leary had nothing but praise for Temple Monday during his American Athletic Conference teleconference on Monday.

Central Florida (8-1), ranked 17h in the nation, needed a 23-yard field goal with time running out over the weekend to pull out a 39-36 victory over Temple, which fell to 1-9 on the season with two games left to play.

Rutgers' Nova confident going into final drive vs. Temple

When Temple, leading by 20-16 with 1 minute, 50 seconds to play, failed to convert on fourth and 1 at the Rutgers 27 and turned the ball over to the Scarlet Knights, Rutgers quarterback Gary Nova felt confident.

For the better part of this receding season, the Temple football team has talked about putting together a complete 60 minutes of football.

On Saturday, for 58 minutes at High Point Solutions Stadium, they came tantalizingly close to making this happen. Unfortunately for the Owls, offensive and defensive breakdowns in the last two minutes against Rutgers denied Temple its first American Athletic Conference victory
